I will not talk about an old friend. We’re just that

---End of Interview

Well…at a fancy club one day, Oh Mi-Ran was introduced to Han Sung-Kook as someone she should take good care. He was an important man in need of some companionship. We now call it “Getting a sponsor “ I think.

--- Song Mi-Ryung, Famous actress of screen and stage since the 80s.
It is sad to say it but that kind of abuse used to happen when I was coming up in the business. Actresses were treated like courtesans than professional actresses. You would hear horror stories about actresses being traded around powerful politicians like “things.” Luckily, I made influential friends early on that helped shield me from the need to degrade myself and I could focus on my craft.

Yes, I did have a child out of wedlock My daughter Lee Soon-Shin was not the result of that kind of dirty tryst. She was a product of love albeit silly and frivolous but it was still love at the time.
Yes, I’m quite proud of my daughter Lee Soon-Shin following in my footsteps. She is a talented young actress and I’m doing my all to guide and mold her career.

---End of Interview

As  young active and ambitious married man of the town, Han Sung-Kook became captivated by a beauty like Oh Mi-Ran and “made” her his mistress. You couldn't say he technically raped her. He just said he wanted her and she submitted with a smile.

This is nothing new since that was how the business worked in those days. It was actually preferable to be a mistress of a powerful person. It meant that you didn’t have to be forced to sleep with all of the men who controlled your fate as an actress. However, Han Sung-Kook is not a person that likes to share his toys with the world. Once Oh Mi-Ran got pregnant within two years of their first sexual encounter, he forced her to retire and become a full time kept woman.

Times passed. And like how these things go, Han Sung-Kook lost interest and moved on to other younger women including some other actresses. In contrast, Oh Mi-Ran with his son was trapped in the orbit of Han Sung-Kook and his “legitimate” family. Because of the fact that she was the mother of his son, Han Sung-Kook never allowed her to move on. Now, more than 30 years have passed and their son is 37 years old. All of her beauty and promise of her life has faded away. The only thing she has left is her son and a failing liver that needs to be replaced.

The Fates had to arrange screwing up a liver just at the perfect time for Kang Hye-Soo to come into the picture. Those livers are quite tricky regarding timing. It will fail but how long can it linger. In any case, Kang Hye-Soo has a good and health liver…the same cannot be said of the other organs in her body but her liver will do for Oh Mi-Ran.
